20.10.09 Bandar Abbas

Homesick in Bandar Abbas.
Susanne and I went to check our mail, after a late breakfast at 8.30 am. Since it is so hot here, just like Mangalore, as soon as we step out of the hotel we catch a cab. We have finally figured out the system here in Iran with cabs. We just walk out on the road, wave a few times, a car stops, we jump in tell him where you want to go, and give him 10000 Rials, equal to 1 $. This system is great every car on the road is a taxi and people drive you anywhere you want and they try and even talk to you. Had lunch at a shopping mall, went for a walk and had Burgers and ice cream again. Played cards and drank beers in the evening.
The secret of Iranians Beers: Beers are non alcoholic with different tastes, like strawberry, mango, Lemon etc. You buy a beer and close your eyes for a few seconds you gulp it down, close your eyes for a few seconds again and you feel pissed. What irony even the kids drink beers here. At the restaurants are served in big beer mugs, children, women and all drink it. I have never drunk so many beers in my life and enjoied them so much and even got a buzz. Must be the air round here. It is easier asking for a stiff drink at a Mosque than buying any alcohol in this country, but if you are a catholic you can drink you own alcohol as long as no Muslims are there with you, but where to get it, what irony.

Bandar Abbas i venteposition
