Left the dump of our hotel in Canakklu after eating ½ a loaf of bread and one boiled egg, this is what Turks call breakfast, nothing like a dosa.
Drove to Troy, saw the ruins and a replica of the Trojan horse. It is amazing how a few stones scattered amount the country side can get 1000 of tourists to believe what the guide or book tells you. Walked around the ruins of Troy they reminded me of a few unfinished buildings in Bangalore and all this was done in the blazing sun. Mummy of course had 50 different stories about what happened and how similar this is to the Krishna, well some people believe in myths and some are tired of stones.
Drove south past Izmir to Selcuk close to Ephesus. The roads are still fantastic and the scenery is amazing since Mummy likes to munch, we bought figs, dried apricots and nuts on the way. Found this beautiful lovely hotel in Selcuk. It has a pool, bar and lovely clean rooms and they even speak English. So Mummy and me had an afternoon snooze while Susanne and Daniel dived into the pool, got up started drinking. Had a few drinks by the pool and had a love dinner in town, not kebabs this time, I had tongue and brain while the others had a local speciality. Excellent food and raki went down smoothly. It is very difficult to travel when you need good food an Raki every day. Drove app. 500 km today.
